The ‘Trio Horta’ originates in the year 2002 at the ‘Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel’. After the world creation of ‘Mémoire III et ∞’ of Jean Gyselynck, three musicians decided to continue to explore their common predilection for this type of instrumentation. They followed master classes at the ‘Orpheus-instituut’, Gent, with Professors Jan Michiels and the ‘Danel-quartet’ and learned more about playing the repertory of A. Dvorák trough lessons with Yuzuko Horigome and Abdel Rahman El-Bacha. The trio followed also lessons with well-known chamber musicians such as François Deppe (Ictus Ensemble), Eric Robberecht (Ensor kwartet) and great pianist such as Bojan Vodenitcharov, Piet Kuijken and Jean-Claude Vanden Eynde.

In 2006, they got selected as laureate of the ‘Debut Prize for Chamber Music “Gouden Vleugels”’. This common initiative of different cultural instances in Flanders supports young chamber music ensembles and links them for a series of concerts with an established soloist. The ‘Trio Horta’ elaborated a project named ‘Double Jeu’ with accordionist Gwen Cresens (from the ensemble ‘Tanguedia’), which toured through cultural centres all over Flanders until now.
Meanwhile, the trio Horta is going further on exploring the classical repertoire and is continuing to perform with growing success.
